The J-1 Internship Training Visa provides countless opportunities for international candidates looking to travel and gain experience in the United States in their field of study/occupation for 3-18 months. This BridgeUSA cultural exchange program will enhance your skills and expertise in your academic or occupational fields through participation in a structure and guided training-based program while providing you with exposure to U.S. culture and hands-on experience in U.S. business practices in your field of study or occupational field.

At J1Recruitment we work in partnership with several J1 visa sponsors in the placement search, issuance of your visa documents, orientation before arrival to the US, and assistance while you are in the US.

REQUIREMENTS

Interns

Must be currently enrolled in and pursuing studies at a foreign degree- or certificate-granting post-secondary academic institution outside the United States; or

Must have graduated from such an institution no more than 12 months prior to their exchange visitor program start date.

Trainees

Must have a degree or professional certificate from a foreign post-secondary academic institution and at least one year of prior related work experience in his or her occupational field outside the United States; or

Have five years of work experience outside the United States in the occupational field in which they are seeking training

All candidates must

  • Speak English at a B2 level – must prove so
  • Not have had any visa denials within the last 2 years
  • Be between 18-35 years old
  • Be foreign nationals (no US citizens)
  • Be outside the US or apply for the J1 visa from outside the US

ALLOWED OCCUPATIONAL CATEGORIES

We will be able to find paid internship training positions in different fields of study/occupations. Some of them are:

  • Hospitality and Tourism
  • Information Media and Communications
  • Management, Business, Commerce and Finance
  • Law
  • The Sciences, Engineering, Architecture, and Industrial Occupations

APPLICATION PROCESS

  1. Email your resume at info@j1recruitment.com as well as your university transcripts
  2. If you meet the requirements of the program and we can find a paid internship training position for you through one of our sponsors, we will set up an online meeting to assess your level of English, explain the application process, fees and refund policy in case of cancelation or visa denial
  3. Submit a complete application and initial deposit
  4. Placement search may take up to 4 for months
  5. Sign your offer letter and make your final payment
  6. Wait 2-3 weeks for issuance of your visa documents: DS 2019 and DS 7002
  7. Pay for Sevis Fee
  8. Book your embassy appointment
  9. Attend a mandatory online orientation with us
  10. Visa interview, visa approval and submit flight information

PLACEMENT SEARCH LIMITATIONS

  • The candidates cannot work in unskilled or casual labor positions, in positions that require or involve childcare or elder care, or in any kind of position that involves patient care or contact.
  • The candidates will not be placed in positions that require more than 20 percent clerical or office support work. Use of the Exchange Visitor Program for ordinary employment or work purposes is strictly prohibited. Sponsors are not to place trainee participants in positions, which are filled or would be filled by full-time or part-time employees. Also, the training cannot duplicate a trainee participant’s prior work experience or training.
  • The maximum program duration for Interns is 12 months
  • The maximum program duration for Trainees is 18 months
  • Exchange Visitors in the field of Culinary, Hospitality and Agriculture can do the program for a maximum of 12 months.
  • Candidates will not be able to extend their visas beyond the maximum program duration.
  • Candidates cannot change their visa status while in the program
  • Candidates may reapply for the internship program multiple times as long as they qualify as interns. Trainees must always wait 2 years in between program
  • Stipen is not negotiable
  • We can’t guarantee a position in a specific location
  • Positons will be related to your field of study or occupation in general, but we can’t limit the placement search to any specific industria, area, or tasks within the host company.
